Insulation Estimator is a set of free calculators for homeowners, DIYers and small contractors planning insulation work: spray foam, attic and blown-in insulation, and crawl spaces. Our goal is simple. You should be able to get a number you can trust, see exactly how it was worked out, and walk into a store or a contractor quote knowing what you need.

Who’s behind the site

The site is written and maintained by Your Name, founder & editor. Replace this with a real bio: your hands-on experience with insulation, building science, or home renovation, and why you built these calculators.

How we build the calculators

• Formulas in the open. Every calculator explains its formula and assumptions right under the tool, and our methodology page lists the material values and sources.
• Published data only. R-values, coverage and yield figures come from government sources (U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR) and manufacturers’ published data sheets and labels.
• Results in buying units. We turn square feet into what you actually buy: board feet and kits, bags, rolls or sheets.
• Tested. The calculation code has automated tests that check the math against hand-worked examples.

We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any insulation manufacturer, retailer or contractor. Where we mention brands, it’s only to help you match a result to a product. The site is supported by advertising, and may in future use affiliate links. Neither changes how we calculate anything. See our disclaimer for details.
